hellllooooo squaw valley....

longest week ever and it's not even over yet. i checked out of the hotel on monday. got myself this sweet little rental...

and drove to squaw valley to stay at a womans house i met through craigslist. not as creepy as it sounds- she had a house for rent, colin emailed back and forth with her, the house was no longer available, but she couldn't stand the thought of us paying for a hotel for a month and offered her house to me while she is in mexico for the next month. she was also married to a well known skier who died a couple years ago doing some crazy ski/ base jump off a cliff and colin recognized her last name... anyway, she now runs a non-profit organization in her husbands name and knows just about everybody. we were able to spend 2 days together before she left and she's pretty awesome. it's really weird how not weird this is.
so here's my new temporary residence for the next month...

and her yoga studio...

goodbye truckee hotel...

check out this rustic charmer...
this is where i stayed for the first 2 nights in truckee. i would describe it as: not horrible. perfect walking distance to my office, but a little on the 'don't touch anything' side..

oh yes, the "european" style bathrooms located down the hall from your room... this one was closest to my room. pretty sure the tub was just for show since it didn't have a spout for water. who takes a bath in a hotel anyway? hmm... silly europeans. either way- i avoided taking a shower on sunday and saved my one and only shower for monday morning. (don't worry, i wore my flip flops)

day one...

30 & snowing? this doesn't feel like may in california... it was a little chilly, but i still spent my day as planned: walking around town and exploring the area. i ran 4.5 miles in the morning, walked to yoga class, and indulged in a little retail therapy in the historic downtown area in the afternoon. gotta support the community, right? the shops here are much better than i expected. there are also quite a few breakfast places that actually serve breakfast all day long. one of them was featured on throwdown with bobby flay (love that show) so I will absolutely be checking that out soon...

bobby flay was here!

view from my hotel room... hopefully tomorrow will be a little clearer.
